Supply Ports and Cover

Around the wax sculpture and refractory clay, a grid of play made of ‘elder wood’ or wax candles is placed. Vertically attached to the artwork’s surface, these melt-carrying channels constitute the arteries through which molten metal flows, eventually occupying the surface let free by the evaporated wax, and serve as ‘vents’ for air, to avoid the formation of bubbles.

The statue, with its structure of pipes, is covered with liquid foundry soil and protected by a shell of refractory material and chalk. The entire build assumes a cylindrical configuration.
