This operation consists of two separate stages.
- First stage: the model provided by the artist is coated in water and chalk. The chalk layer, still soft at this stage, covers the structure tracing all the details. Once it has solidified, the chalk shell, divided in pieces, is separated from the structure and composed to create the original shapes. That constitutes a chalk mould, hollow inside (negative mould).
- Second stage: the negative mould is filled with layers of liquid chalk and iron that recreate the original structure (positive mould). The artist can intervene at this stage on the chalk shape to make any amendment. Different materials, with different
